Our Treatment Process
Surface spray treatments applied inside and outside the home or building help create a barrier for ants to stop them entering the house from outside. The treatment provides a residue action, lasting up to 6 weeks.
We also use a special granule ant pesticide made up of protein and sugar which is attractive to worker ants, as they are seen as a food source, and therefore collected by the ants and taken to their nests. This food source is then fed to the larvae which then transform this food into liquid. This liquid is given to the queen, and once she dies, the reproductive cycle to lay eggs and reproduce is broken and the nest is eliminated.
Our teams are trained in the application of these treatments.
Ants comprise the largest form of biomass on the planet with more than 8800 different ant species. Ants are social insects which are highly efficient at creating devastating damage very quickly. Ants are found everywhere, living in colonies consisting of a few queens surrounded by hundreds of thousands of colony ants. The queen is kept safely, deep inside the nest and is tended to by female worker ants which come in a range of sizes.
It is not possible to prevent ants from accessing your home but there are ways of decreasing activity by keeping surfaces clean, removing food sources like bread crumbs, syrup, sweets, flour maize, sugar etc. as these are attractive food sources for ants.
Ants and termites are not the same insects. Herewith are some differentiating factors:
|Eyes||Compound eyes||No eyes (sightless)|
|Body||3 Segments: elbowed||2 Segments: simple string of bead like segments|
|Life cycle||Complete metamorphosis: egg, larva, pupa, adult||Incomplete metamorphosis: egg, nymph, adult (no pupal stage)|
|Diet||Scavengers of different foods. Do not eat wood.||Eat plant tissue, feed on wood, grasses, cause extensive damage to buildings and trees through feeding and nesting habits|
Effect on Health
Ants are nuisance pests. Pharaoh ants can carry disease-carrying organism which pose a threat to human health particularly in health care facilities, while species of stinging ants such as the red imported fire ant, can endanger young children, bedridden people or confined pets.
